HI, TONY BATTAGLIA HERE TO TALK ABOUT TODAY'S FISHING TRIP WITH PROFESSIONAL GUIDE "BUSTER LOVING". WE WENT OUT ON TABLE ROCK LAKE ABOUT 8 AM. THE WEATHER WAS QUITE BALMY ABOUT 60 DEGREES AND CONTINUED TO WARM UP TOWARD 80 DEGREES AS THE MORNING WENT ON WITH A SOUTHERN BREEZE THAT  GOT  WINDY AROUND 10:30 AM  WITH 15 TO 25 MPH WINDS. THE GUIDE ALWAYS HAS A HARDER TIME KEEPING THE BOAT IN PLACE AND TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH EVERYTHING ELSE WHEN IT'S TOO WINDY.

WE FISHED MOSTLY WITH TWO TYPES OF LURES TODAY  ONE BEING A  "CAROLINA RIG, WITH A 3/16TH OUNCE SLIP SINKER HELD ABOUT 15 TO 17 INCHES ABOVE THE HOOK WITH A LITTLE PLASTIC ITEM CALLED A "CAROLINA KEEPER", AND A 1/0 HOOK AT THE END OF THE LINE. THE  "WATERMELON GREEN" COLORED  "FISH DOCTOR" PLASTIC WORM WE USED WAS RIGGED WITH THE HOOK THROUGH THE FISH DOCTOR WORM WITH THE HOOK TIP LYING BARE ALONG SIDE THE WORM. MAKE SURE YOU USE THE PROPER HOOK WITH THE NOTCH AT THE TOP TO HOLD THE PLASTIC WORM IN PLACE.

THE GUIDE PLACED THE BOAT IN ABOUT 20 TO 25 FT OF WATER, WE THEN CASTED TOWARD THE SHORE INTO ABOUT 8 TO 12 FT OF WATER AND THEN SLOWLY DRAGGED THE WORM AS SLOWLY AS A LIVE WORM WOULD CRAWL ON THE BOTTOM UNTIL WE FELT THE BITE OR PICKUP. NOW THIS IS IMPORTANT WHEN YOU FEEL THE BITE OR PICK UP YOU MUST PRACTICE IMMEDIATELY POINTING YOUR ROD TIP TOWARD THE FISH GIVING THE FISH ABOUT 6 TO 8 INCHES OF LINE BEFORE TRYING TO SET THE HOOK. IF YOU DON'T DO THIS ALMOST ALL OF THE TIME YOU WILL PULL THE LURE AWAY FROM THE FISH BEFORE IT HAS A CHANCE TO GET HOOKED. BY GIVING THE FISH THOSE 6 TO 8 INCHES OF LINE IT INSURES YOU THAT THE FISH HAS THE WORM AND HOOK IN IT'S THROAT ENOUGH TO GET PROPERLY HOOKED. SO REMEMBER WHEN  FISHING WITH A CAROLINA RIG TO PRACTICE DROPPING THE ROD TIP TOWARD THE FISH AT THE BITE  GIVING MR. FISH THE EXTRA FEW INCHES OF LINE TO INSURE A SURE  CATCH.

THE OTHER LURE WE USED IS SIMPLER, IT'S A "GREEN PUMPKIN" "COLOR" 3 INCH "CHOMPER TUBE LURE" WITH A 1/4 OUNCE JIG HEAD WIDE HOOK JIG. SLIP THE JIGGED HOOK INTO THE TUBE PROPERLY UNTIL THE HOOK IS COMPLETELY BARE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE TUBE, THEN TIE THIS LURE ON THE END OF YOUR LINE. WHEN FISHING THIS LURE CAST THE SAME AS PER THE CAROLINA RIG BUT ON THE RETRIEVE BUMP THE BOTTOM VERY SLOWLY IN FOUR TO SIX INCH HOPS BUT REMEMBER "SLOWLY" AND MOST IMPORTANTLY WITH THIS LURE YOU SET THE HOOK HARD AND FAST AS SOON AS YOU FEEL THE BITE DO NOT WASTE A MOMENT SETTING THE HOOK WITH THE TUBE LURE . HARD AND FAST IS THE WAY.

WE CAUGHT OVER TWENTY  FISH THIS MORNING FISHING THIS WAY ABOUT FIVE BEING IN THE ABOVE 15 INCH KEEPER  CLASS.

I HEAR THE TOP WATER LURES ARE WORKING GOOD AND THEY ARE CATCHING LOTS OF FISH VERY EARLY IN THE MORNINGS (6-6:30-7:30) AM ESPECIALLY IF IT'S CLOUDY.

TOMORROW WE ARE GOING OUT WITH ANOTHER PROFESSIONAL GUIDE "BILL BECK" HE SAID THE TOP WATER BITE IS GOOD EARLY AM, SO WE ARE GOING TO TRY IT.

WITH BOTH RIGGINGS YOU SHOULD USE STRONG QUALITY LINE LIKE THE BASS PRO 8 LB MONO EXCELL BRAND, GREEN IN COLOR.

AS ALWAYS I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT IF YOU DON'T KNOW THIS LAKE, AND YOU CAN AFFORD TO, THAT YOU TAKE A GUIDE OUT FOR A HALF A DAY WHEN YOU FIRST COME TO FISH TABLE ROCK  YOU CAN GAIN THE KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT IS PRESENTLY HAPPENING BECAUSE THE FISHING CHANGES HERE VERY OFTEN AND THE GUIDES FISH DAILY AND KEEP UP WITH THE CHANGES.  GOOD FISHING.

THE FISHING IS ALWAYS GREAT ON TABLE ROCK LAKE.
                                                                      GOD BLESS, TONY BATTAGLIA
